👮The Coordinator
The coordinator is the central node that sends signed blocks called milestones that nodes trust and use to confirm blocks. Blocks in the Tangle are only considered for confirmation if they are directly or indirectly referenced by a node's verified milestones.
In order for nodes to recognize valid milestones, all Speed Force nodes on the same network are configured with the signature of a coordinator node they trust. By knowing these signatures, nodes can verify the signatures in published milestones to verify that a trusted coordinator signed them.
To ensure that new blocks always have a chance to be confirmed quickly, the coordinator sends milestones periodically (every 5 seconds). In order for nodes to check that they are in sync with the rest of the network, they can compare milestones they know about.
